Structural fumigation
Structural Fumigation

Structural fumigation

When pests are embedded in the fabric of a building, surface treatments are not enough. Structural fumigation treats the whole structure to reach wood borers, dry wood termites and deep infestations wherever they hide.

What it tackles

For infestations deep in the structure

Structural fumigation is mainly used against wood boring insects and certain dry wood termites that live inside timber and the structure itself. Because the gas fills the treated space, it reaches pests inside walls, roof timbers, furniture and machinery that sprays simply cannot penetrate. It is well suited to warehouses, mills, food processing plants, storage facilities and buildings with established infestations.

Wood borers

Insects whose larvae tunnel through and weaken structural and furniture timber.

Dry wood termites

Termites that live inside dry timber, away from soil, and damage it from within.

Embedded pests

Stored product insects and other pests living deep within a building or its machinery.

Methods

Two ways we treat a structure

We choose the method based on the size of the building and how widespread the infestation is.

Tenting

The entire structure is sealed under a gas tight cover, then fumigated. Tenting is used where the infestation is widespread or the whole building needs to be treated at once. It gives complete coverage of every part of the structure.

Tape and seal

Only the affected areas, or areas showing signs of activity, are sealed and treated. This targeted method suits localised infestations where covering the whole structure is not necessary.

Safety first

Controlled, assessed and compliant

Structural fumigation is powerful, so safety drives everything we do. Before any work begins we complete a thorough risk assessment that considers the environment, neighbouring properties, non target species, site access and an emergency plan.

Our technicians use the correct protective equipment and follow strict procedures, and every treatment complies with the relevant legislation, the fumigant manufacturer guidance and our own operating standards. The building is fully aerated and cleared as safe before anyone returns.

Arrange a site assessment
  • Full risk assessment before work starts
  • Care for neighbours and the environment
  • Trained technicians with proper protective equipment
  • An emergency contingency plan in place
  • Full aeration and clearance before re entry
